The housing market is more bouyant than it has ever been and folk are selling up houses like hot tea cakes. The question is, where are they all going? The market for new houses is equally strong and one wonders where does the drive from from.
For those folk not able to buy on the new housing ladder, there are all those pre loved houses being sold by those moving up to new. There must be a similar ratio of buyers to sellers and that means that hundreds of families are taking pocession of their own little castle, thus getting them out of the rental rat race. One thing about having a pre-loved; or second hand house is that you inherit everybody else’s tastes and odd choice of decor. That in itself is not so bad – it is easy and fairly cheap to tidy up a house with a change of paint colours and the purchasing of soft furnishings to co-ordinate. But when it comes to making renovations to a house, be it a change of room use, or ripping out the bathrooms and starting over, then specialists need to be employed to make a really good job of it. There are experts out there who can bring an idea alive and have the skills, technique and experience of buildings to be able to bring out the best in a room – they can see how the light plays better from a window and will have access to workmanship that the humble diy fan will not have. Sometimes building regulations need to be consulted before work commences, just to make sure nothing is done without the right permissions.
